Sidonie Otterbourne - born in Bombay in 1932 - was the daughter of Silvina Otterbourne and James Anthony Winston, a pseudo communist from Blackpool. She grew up in England with her brother Alexander Otterbourne then went to Paris to study the cello only to fall in love with a lion tamer named Jacques "Le Tigre" Dupont and join the circus. During the passage to America she gave birth to her daughter Emerald. Her second daughter Saphira, fathered by Anders Lundborg - an unsuccessful Swedish writer - was born in Marrakesh. She died of a snakebite in 2006.
